World-leading manufacturer and supplier of solar panels and storage systems, Jinko Solar has set its mission on optimizing the energy portfolio and enabling a sustainable future.
—
As climate change continues to increase the frequency of extreme weather events like hurricanes, winter storms, hailstorms, and wildfires, without intervention the United States may face concerns of widespread grid failure. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, over 75% of the U.S. grid system was built over 25 years ago. This not only leaves Americans susceptible to power outages — with the average homeowner experiencing seven hours without power in 2021 — but exacerbates climate concerns with a system heavily reliant on and tailored to fossil fuels.
With the country moving slowly to replace its antiquated grid infrastructure, companies like Jinko Solar have stepped in with innovative products that help address America’s growing grid issues. A world-leading manufacturer and supplier of solar panels and storage systems, Jinko Solar has set its mission on optimizing the energy portfolio and enabling a sustainable future. The company recently became the first in the world to deploy 200 gigawatts of solar modules and has expanded its focus into storage solutions to promote grid resiliency and aid in the transition to renewable energy.
Jinko Solar’s newly introduced Eagle Encore is one system uniquely equipped to save the electrical grid. As a combined residential solar panel and battery storage system, the Eagle Encore provides an all-in-one solution for customers' energy needs, with 7.6 kilowatts of power and a storage capacity of 26.2 kilowatt hours. This system is fully outdoor rated and is compatible with an app to see your home’s energy flow and track your electricity usage.
With enough energy to power a home through a blackout, the Eagle Encore offers peak shaving and load-shifting capabilities that reduce reliance and pressure on the local grid. As the demand for electricity continues to rise with Americans working from home, driving electric vehicles, and owning more appliances, products like the Eagle Encore are becoming increasingly crucial.
For example, in California, if a brownout is imminent because of excessive demand on the grid, homeowners with batteries could generate their own electricity, therefore relieving the utility and potentially easing the necessity of constructing additional plants to satisfy demand.
Eagle Encore and the Future of the American Community
With the Eagle Encore paving a future for the United States grid, communities around the country are investing in the combined system to ensure energy efficiency and resiliency in their neighborhood. Transcend Communities, widely considered an apex of sustainable living, is one of these communities.
Currently under development in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, Transcend Communities is set to be a connected, all-electric, innovative hub of prefab homes. Jinko Solar’s Eagle Encore is set to be a centerpiece of each abode and will aid in the community’s net-zero, self-powered nature.
The community, a collaborative project between California prefab home developer Dvele and Green Builder Media, is designed for resilient and low-impact living. Each residential building is expected to be sustainably crafted, fitted with an Eagle Encore system, and offer a variety of homeowner amenities like a microgrid, solar charging stations, and composting centers.
“Paired with our Eagle storage system, each home in Transcend Communities will have 26.2 kilowatt hours of storage, which is large for a residential building,” Adam Detrick, Jinko Solar’s U.S. director of product management and technical services, told Green Builder Media. “It’s important to store and deploy as much energy as possible. We’re standardizing the panels and storage for all the house plans in Transcend because with this system and a low-energy-use house, it’s easy to get to net positive energy.”
By offering homes a combined solar panel and storage system, Jinko Solar makes it easy for Transcend residents who wish to increase their energy or storage capacity. “Our Encore System uses a simple hybrid inverter that controls both the PV nodes and storage, which means it can be installed faster, has fewer components, and is more efficient,” Detrick explained. “In the residential market, a lot of people add more panels or add storage after the original solar panels are installed, and then they need to add another inverter.”
In achieving net-positive energy production, neighborhoods like Transcend take immense pressure off the local grid and align with the 52% of Americans willing to pay more for a sustainable house.
Eagle Encore Accolades
With the Eagle Encore continuing to improve grid stability, it should come as no surprise that the product was named Sustainable Product of the Year in the Energy Management category by Green Builder Media. Green Builder Media is a North American sustainable media company focused exclusively on green building and responsible growth.
The company’s Sustainable Product of the Year award recognizes the year's most innovative green products. 2023 marks the second year in a row that Jinko Solar received recognition in the coveted Energy Management category.
"It's an honor to have our products once again recognized by Green Builder Media," said Nigel Cockroft, general manager of Jinko Solar (U.S.). "Sustainability and resiliency are top-of-mind for most homeowners, and Jinko Solar is proud to offer an all-in-one solution that allows them to generate solar power and store that energy for backup generation, self-consumption, and time-of-use management."
As Jinko Solar continues its mission to be the most trusted supplier of solar and storage equipment in North America, the company’s dedication to addressing pressing concerns like grid instability explains why it continues to break sales records. Despite ever-increasing industry competition, Jinko Solar ranked No. 1 in global solar panel sales for Q1 2023.
With the United States energy grid unlikely to be replaced anytime soon, the Eagle Encore allows you to do your part in reducing the load on it, and provides the peace of mind that your household appliances won't stop running in the event of an emergency or power outage.
